Jordi Phillips-Women's Soccer

 Position: Center Midfield
Age: 21
Hometown: Markham, Ontario
High School Attended: Brother Andre Catholic High School
Major: Sport Management
Year of Eligibility: 3
Why did you choose to attend Brock?
I chose Brock primarily for my program but I also knew that they were a competitive team in the OUA with hopes to go far in my first year.
How long have you been playing soccer?
I started playing house league when I was 8 years old. I started to compete competitively when I was 9 and haven't looked back since.
What got you started in soccer?
My dad is a huge soccer fan and pushed me into playing. Also, I used to watch my brothers playing soccer growing up and always wanted to copy exactly what they were doing.
Highlight of your soccer career?
I think there is a tie between getting a silver medal at Nationals with Brock Badgers in 2008 (my first year) and qualifying for the Gold Cup with the Guyana National Women's soccer team in 2010.
Who is your role model?
My dad is definitely my role model. Not only was he the one who first got me started in soccer, but he has also supports me in all of my endeavours. He is the nicest and funniest man I know.
What do you like most about soccer?
I like the combination of teamwork and competition that high-level soccer brings. The rush that you feel in the middle of a game is like no other.
Extracurricular Activities: Mainly soccer, but I also work for Recreation Services as a Coordinator of Officials for Intramurals.
Favourite food: Bacon and combo number 6 and 8 from Wendy's
Favourite movie: 10 Things I Hate About You
Favourite book: I'm a diehard Harry Potter fan, so all of the books in that series.
What are your future ambition in both your career and life?
In life I want to travel the world and see as many places as I can before I die. As for my career, I either want to pursue sport marketing or law as I plan to write my L-SATs this fall.
Parents/Siblings and what they do?
My parents are borderline retired and they only work part time now. I have two older brothers and one is a doctor and the other is an engineer.
If you could travel any place in the world where would you go and why?
If I had to pick just one place it would be Greece. I’ve seen so many movies and pictures that show the Greek Isles and it makes me want to go. Plus Greek food is delicious.
