Why did you choose to attend Brock: Coming from a small town I was very intimidated after visiting the large campuses of UBC, U of A, U Of S and Western. When I flew out to Brock during a recruiting trip I loved the area and the small town feel of Brock and St. Catharines. The hockey program was in a growth stage and I saw an opportunity to help make a big impact right away as a freshmen. Also, Brock’s small class sizes and Business Program really helped seal the deal.
How long have you played hockey: 19 years since age 4
What got you started in hockey: There were ponds behind my house growing up and eventually an out door rink right across the street, so I guess that paired with the small-town-Saskatchewan Hockey Culture and some supportive parents and I was lucky enough to play a fall in love wit the game!
Highlights of your hockey career? Fred Page Cup Finalists, 2008, Vernon Vipers
Who is your role model? My Father
Extracurricular Activities: I love all sports but to name a few, golf, tennis, soccer, beach volleyball, wakeboarding. I am also really into playing guitar and singing country music. I am also passionate about the finance industry and investment world.
Favourite food: Chicken Wings or Steak
Favourite book: When I had time for leisure reading, the Hardy Boys series. The Economist (magazine), The Globe and Mail.
Favourite Song: Take A Minute – K’naan , Any country song they’re all great!
Nickname: Smeltz
Future Ambitions: To play the highest level of professional hockey I can, Graduate on the deans list and pass the CFA exams, be successful, happy and start a family.

If you could travel any place in the world where would you go and why?
If you could travel any place in the world where would you go and why?
Scotland/Ireland – From what I have seen in movies it seems amazing, the countryside is unbelievable and I love both cultures music. I would love to post up in an Irish pub for a night and enjoy some great beer and unreal music.
Australia – The Great Barrier Reef – I am fascinated with scuba diving and would love to go there and explore the reed one day.
Greece/Italy (I have never been anywhere so it’s a long list!)
